Child Care Resource & Referral

CCR&R services parents and families, early education & childcare professionals, and agencies serving those groups. As a state-funded child care resource and referral agency, we serve twenty counties in Northwest Ohio from three regional offices: Lima, Mansfield, & Toledo.

CCR&R offers many programs to help parents and children grow together, focusing on children 0-6, as well as programs for childcare providers. Reach out to us for more tailored support! We provide a wide range of services for families and early care and education professionals including:

  • Referrals to childcare programs for families looking for care;

  • Information for families about indicators of quality in childcare programs;

  • Programs + Classes for parents on a variety of parenting topics;

  • Professional development opportunities for educational professionals;

  • Technical assistance for childcare programs;

  • Coordinating initiatives that impact childcare programs; and

  • Collaborating with local community organizations to develop services and programs that affect children, families, and early childhood education professionals

YWCA Child Care Resource & Referral receives funding through United Way and the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. The YWCA Child Care Resource and Referral is prohibited from providing child care or transportation services of any kind, per grant restrictions. CCR&R will assist in locating child care and transportation options to meet your individual needs.

Parent + Family Programs

  • Learn discipline that works and how to deal with tantrums and fights. Certification and incentives for those who complete the training.

  • A family-centered trauma-informed initiative designed to build nurturing skills as an alternative to abusive/neglectful parenting.

  • Understand what’s within your control to change and influence for your child’s benefit. Triple P is one of the world’s most researched parenting programs. Investing in the future health and happiness of our children benefits the whole community.

  • This program includes free activities to do with children under 6 while educating you about child development and continuing to encourage socialization. The waitlist for this group is currently full.

  • This group is designed for families with children 2-5 years of age with developmental delays. The group provides an opportunity for families to connect with each other in person at Toledo Lucas County Library locations and engage in fun activities related to sensory needs and play.

  • A Free literacy program for children where we:

    • Read fun and engaging stories

    • Enjoy story-related activities

    • Provide your family with a take-home educational kit

  • Help your child develop critical learning skills needed for kindergarten readiness. Free activities and materials are provided each month during programming, Nov-May.

    Eligibility Requirements:

    • Crawford or Marion county resident

    • Child(ren) ages 3-5: not in Kindergarten

    • Provide requested documentation and feedback from monthly activities

  • Every month we have a different theme for this fun in person parent + child group! Join us for crafts, read-a-longs, socialization, & learning with your pre-school aged children. Afterwards, take home the kit of the month to keep for free. *Participants must be residents of Allen County.

Child Care Provider Services

  • The YWCA CCR&R provides access to multiple business support services for child care providers. Business Center resources available at each CCR&R office location include:

    • Access to computers, printers, internet, scanners, copiers and a variety of other business equipment to assist in your office operations

    • Business consultation for child care providers

    • Training and assistance with starting a child care business

    • General technology support

    • Assistance with SUTQ application and submission

    • Child Care Provider Templates

    • Assistance with Program Self Assessments

    • Annual Business Summit

    • Community resources for small business

  • Every month, CCR&R offers a long list of trainings, all Ohio Approved. The training we provide include topics such as classroom activities and subjects, children’s development, and business practices. Classes are to be enrolled through OCCRA and are often provided online, with some in person classes as well. We also can provide specific private trainings to your team, contact your local CCR&R to set up your training.

The YWCA CCR&R Community Library can help! We offer a variety of free resources and services to support child care professionals, parents, children and the community in our library.

    Library hours at all offices are 9:00 am – 4:30 pm. Please call your local YWCA CCR&R office for more information as scheduling resources may vary by location.
